AI Powered Coaching

At tech start-ups, you don’t get much coaching. The expectation is that you’re a self-starter who can figure things out.
The good news - in the age of AI, this doesn’t need to be a fully solo endeavor. Enter ChatGPT voice (and as of today, Claude Sonnet 3.5).
I recently started role-playing.
Role playing allows you to refine your messaging, test how clients might react, and get in more at bats…wish I had this years ago.
Here’s 5 simple steps to get started:
1) Download ChatGPT Mobile App

2) Open App + Click Headphones Button

3) Initial Prompt
Type in the following:
“I’d like to role play with you for a sales pitch. I work in B2B Tech Sales. I’m an Account Executive at {INSERT COMPANY}. Our company focuses on {VALUE PROP} selling into {ICP}. Our primary competitors include {INSERT COMPETITORS} I’d like to role play a first call with you. Can you pretend to be the {INSERT ONE PERSONA}? Some reasons you may be reaching out include {INSERT KEY PAINPOINTS}
Then click the Voice Button and say “Begin Role Play”:
4) Iterate - Try Different Personas
Example: “Can you act like a rude Engineer who doesn’t want to waste his time speaking to a sales person? You can interrupt me or tell me that my comments are too high level / not technical enough.”
Example: “You’re now a VP of Product instead. Call me out for some key features gaps. Here are some potential product gaps {INSERT COMMON GAPS} to choose from, but feel free to come up with your own. When I give you an answer, press me further until you are satisfied - do not go easy on me.”
Example: “You’re a skeptical prospect who’s already evaluated a competitor solution {INSERT COMPETITOR NAME}. Press me on what makes my product uniquely better and how it ties specifically your as {INSERT PERSONA}”
5) Coaching/Feedback
Example: Can you score my most recent response and provide feedback on where I could do better. Please give specific examples. Can you score on three primary criteria: (A) Technical Aptitude, (B) Structure of Response, (C) Brevity of Response. Score me on scale of 1-3 across each of these criteria. Score of 1 is worst. Score of 3 is Best.
Conclusion:
ChatGPT has its quirks, but it beats prepping for pitches alone (and it’s free…up to limits)
Happy testing - please share feedback on creative prompts you test!
